Homeschoolers for Obama?

There is a group of unschoolers I'm associated with in the Bay Area that has many members who are simply gaga over Obama, it's kind of cute actually. This post is based on an email I sent the group this morning.

But why would an Unschooling parent support Obama?

If you haven't read the Obama "PLAN FOR LIFETIME SUCCESS THROUGH EDUCATION"

You can check it out here:

http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/PreK-12EducationFactSheet.pdf

You ought to read it if you haven't already, it's only 14 pages long but it's chock full of edu-speak nonsense like "research-based standards and principles" (research 10 times, standard & (ized) 12 times) which means, of course, everything must be approved by the teachers union. It does not look homeschool friendly at all. It looks to me like they want ALL children under continuous government supervision from birth to adulthood. Check it out and read it for yourself. Homeschooling is not even mentioned as an option.

Here's a quote about "Early Head Start"

"EHS enables communities to design flexible programs through a variety
of service delivery options, including home-based services, but requires that programs adhere to research-based standards and principles to best support children and families."

Sounds like they will "allow" you to keep your *toddler* at home as long as you "adhere to research-based standards and principles." Not good, especially when the very next paragraph is "Encourage All States to Adopt Voluntary, Universal Pre-School"

Obama is going to win by a landslide anyway so it's not really an issue anymore, but I predict that with the upcoming Democratic majority in all houses and the Presidency that Homeschooling may very well be outlawed. That is just my opinion, but it's based on the indisputable fact that the vast majority of Democratic legislators are firmly in the pocket of the teachers unions. Homeschoolers should consider getting themselves on the endangered species list with the upcoming Obama regime.

You might like many of his programs (I actually don't like any of them, of course, I'm an anarchist) but you will *not* like what he does to your children.

That's all I'll be saying on the topic, I just got tired of watching all of the, to me, misguided enthusiasm for a guy who is more enemy than friend to freedom loving people. I can't imagine you'd be so excited if you'd read what he intends to do to our children.

"Imagine all the people"... confined in the government indoctrination centers called public schools from infancy until adulthood...
(sorry John)

And don't even go the "peace" route as a reason to vote for Obama, he's in favor of military intervention all over the planet, he just has different excuses.

The choice is clear, either McMussolini or ObaMarx, I won't be voting for either one.

The Tea Parties

I didn't make our local Tea Party , but it pulled hundreds of people as well... Tea, anyone? from Father Hollywood by Father Hollywood Like hundreds of thousands of other Americans, the Hollywoods enjoyed a tea party this past Wednesday. "Tea party" (wink wink). Nothing subversive about sipping a little Darjeeling, eh wot? Nothing to see here, Miss Napolitano. Anyway, our local festivities were held at Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Metairie. There were literally thousands of people crammed into the neutral ground (though on that day, the ground was anything but...), as cars and trucks poured by the busy boulevard laing on their horns in support. Here are pictures. And like every such gathering in our environs, there was even a brass band and an improptu "second line" parade. It was a "party" after all. But it was a party with a serious reason. The crowds were so overwhelming that it was hard to hear the speakers, and unfortunately, we did have a fe...

Child Driven Education

Here is a Ted Talk with Sugata Mitra on Child Driven Education... very unschooling-like I think.  :-)  I've seen videos of him before, this is an update on his research on letting groups of kids learn on the internet, mostly without any supervision at all.  Posted via email from The Angry Gnome

Viva California! USA out of California Now!

Gene Veith points to a Russian who predicts the breakup the American Empire. Gene is somehow unaware of the dozens of secessionist movements in various states. Granted they are almost all small but still, they exist and this could be a good time for us. Those who know me already understand that I'm a California Nationalist who I doesn't think California should have joined those united States in the first place. Being a part of that empire just costs us money, we get nothing in return. These days we get to be hated by foreigners for being Americans and mocked by Americans for being Californians. Getting us out of the US yesterday would be a day too late as far as I'm concerned.
