Facebook and the Silly Season

My attempts at staying away from Facebook have been pretty spotty.  I foolishly turned "On" email notifications for family... which constantly sucked me back into FB.  So now I've turned that off, I won't be seeing the word "Facebook" twenty or thirty times a day in my email, and so, I hope, I won't be quite so tempted to go there and waste time and get annoyed at politics and sports and kittens.  I imagine if anything really exciting happens in family-land someone will eventually let me know about it somewhere other than FB, then I can go look and see.  Yeah, right.  The "Silly Season" is in full swing now, ballots and Voter's pamphlets and vote YES and vote NO cards with no actually useful information on them are pouring through the mails, wasting vast resources, killing numberless trees and deceiving people into believing they actually can have some impact on the government.  I'm very happy to say that for the first time since 1
