It remains very difficult for me to remain positive. I was about to say "Remain positive online," but the truth is it's not just on Facebook but in my life in general that I tend to be overly harsh and negative. The Lord is working on me with this and I want to do better, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!
Today, in the Eastern Churches we commemorate the Repose of The Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. The Church calls Saint John the “Apostle of Love”, since he constantly taught that without love man cannot come near to God.
1 John 2:7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because[b] the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and in it[c] there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
John the Apostle, pray to Christ our God that he might help us to live our lives in Love of God and neighbor, we can't do it on our own. Amen.
(Troparion) Beloved apostle of Christ our God, / hasten to deliver a defenseless people. / He who allowed you to recline on His breast, / receives you as you bow before Him. / Implore Him, John the Theologian, / to disperse the persistent threat from the heathens, / entreating for us peace and great mercy.
