With the passage of proposition 14 in California free elections are a thing of the past. Now only Demopublicans and Republicrats will be on the general election ballot. They did this through the deceptive trick of calling for "Open Primaries" where you can vote for any candidate in the primary regardless of your party affiliation. It sounds like a good idea, except for one problem, only the top two vote getters from
ALL parties will be on the ballot in the general election! This means in some areas, like San Francisco, there will be two Democrats on the ballot, or in places like Orange County it could be two Republicans, for most places there will a Democrat facing a Republican. The two official government parties, Demopublicans and Republicrats will effectively be the only parties allowed to run for office. Libertarians are not allowed on the California ballot. Greens are not allowed on the California ballot. The various right wing constitutionalist parties are not allowed on the California ballot.
Other than voting on the proposition to legalize weed that's on this fall's ballot I am seriously considering giving up on voting in the future. It makes about as much sense as voting in the Soviet Union did. California now has a ONE PARTY system. You can't tell me there is a nickles worth of difference between the two branches of the government party because there ISN'T! Don't give me any drivel about it being my duty as a citizen to vote either, that's balderdash! I am NOT A CITIZEN of a republic but the subject of an empire. My only obligation is to obey the laws as long as they don't conflict with God's law. If this were a free republic I'd vote, but since it's not... what is the point?
